What is on this site, how it got here, and what its absence does not mean.
What a passage is
A passage is an uninterrupted run of speech by one person, taken from a diarized transcript of a recording that person appeared in. It is quoted as spoken, including the false starts, and it is not summarized, tidied, or paraphrased.
Each passage carries the moment it begins. The player under it is a link into the publisher's own recording at that moment; quoter does not host the audio. The source link at the foot of every appearance goes to the same recording, which is where to go when the player will not.
How a passage gets here
quoter follows a checked-in list of shows and a checked-in list of people. When an episode appears whose title names someone on that list, the audio is fetched, transcribed, and split by speaker. A passage is published only when the diarized speaker it came from was matched to that person and the match was accepted. Everything else is withheld.
What coverage does not mean
A person's page is what quoter has, not what that person has said. An appearance that shows four passages from a fifty-five minute interview is not a claim that they spoke four times. Speaker matching fails closed: when it cannot be certain a run of speech is theirs, the run is dropped rather than attributed. The cost of that choice is passages missing from a page; the cost of the other choice is somebody else's words under a person's name.
Shows are added by hand. Nobody is here because they are popular and nobody is excluded because they are not.
